In a recent Instagram post, a woman named Sophia shared some thoughts about finding ‘the one’ in today’s world.
The Difference Between Dating For Fun And Dating For Marriage
Being in a romantic relationship is a beautiful thing. God created romance, relationship, and marriage.
And so, Sophia brings to light the common misconceptions about dating in today’s world.
“Dating for fun versus dating for marriage. The lie that the world tries to sell us is that I can date as many people as I want as long as I don’t get too committed to any of them. And somehow, through that process, I may figure out who my spouse is,” she said.
And Sophia believes that it shouldn’t be that way.
Finding The One
She believes that it hinders people from truly seeking God’s counsel in dating.
Sophia stated, “That… it clouds your judgment. It gets in our minds. And guess who we can’t hear any longer? The Lord.”

Additionally, she shared, “The truth that combats this lie is by delighting myself in the Lord. He will give me all the desires of my heart in a spouse. When I started spending time with Jesus, when I started delighting myself in the Lord, the desires of my heart that began to bubble up were not just Sophia’s desires. He’s going to put desires in there. Even if you get married, stay single your whole life, or you adopt like five kids from different countries.”
Finding The One By Delighting In God
Sophia concluded, “You have to find the One. That is Christ Jesus.”
“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land” (Psalm 37:3-9, NIV).
