🎯 Practical: Level-5's Next RPG - IGN

As some of you may remember from this story published in the summer of 2003, Level-5 has been working on a secret project known only as "New RPG" for quite some time now. Ever since its appearance on Level-5's official website so long ago, speculation has run rampant regarding just what this game could really be (Dragon Quest IX? Dark Cloud 3? A new IP altogether?). Regardless of what it is, though, we do know one thing -- it's being developed for the PlayStation 2.
Today in an interview with the popular enthusiast site RPGFan, Level-5 President Akihiro Hino confirmed what just about everybody on the planet had suspected to begin with -- that "Next RPG" will appear this generation, and that it will be on the most popular videogame system around.

"Of course, the 'Next RPG', which has been announced on our official website and elsewhere will be a PlayStation 2 title," Hino said. "We plan to release information on this game in the near future."

This revelation finally makes clear the previous confusion surrounding Level-5's upcoming PSP project, which also remains nameless at this time. As not too long after the PlayStation Portable title was announced, several mainstream gamers and industry veterans alike were confused as to whether or not this was the "Next RPG" that had been advertised. But thanks to today's interview, we now know that not to be the case.
