Surfers Paradise Street Circuit
Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia
The Surfers Paradise Street Circuit is a temporary street circuit in Surfers Paradise, on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Preliminary work began in 1988, and the circuit opened in March 1991 for the Gold Coast IndyCar Grand Prix.
The original layout was 4.470km with 20 turns. It hosted American championship car racing, including the Champ Car World Series, as the Gold Coast Indy 300 from 1991 to 2008. An A1 Grand Prix round planned for 2009 fell through when the series’ UK operating arm went into liquidation, and V8 Supercar races replaced it on a program that year called the Nikon SuperGP. In 2010 the circuit was shortened to its current 2.960km, 15-turn layout.
The Supercars Gold Coast 500 was held from 2010 to 2019 and has run again since 2022. It is on the 2026 calendar as the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 in October. Chaz Mostert holds the current layout’s lap record of 1:08.8255, set in a Ford Mustang in 2025. The record on the original circuit is 1:31.093, set by Graham Rahal in a Panoz DP01 Champ Car in 2007.
