This article is a critical engagement with political scientist William Connolly’s book Christianity and Capitalism: American Style. Connolly’s analysis of the ways in which evangelical Christianity and capitalist agendas interrelate in the US context is outlined and critiqued in terms of its tendency to homogenise the US evangelical movement and overstate its incorporation of right wing political interests. Its theoretical framework is also critiqued, but developed in light of its potential to generate insights into the global context of evangelical influence, including as a vehicle for capitalist values. This is explored in terms of US influence upon British evangelicalism and what this reveals about the circulation of evangelical-capitalist ideas within a transatlantic context. A case study is offered of the Willow Creek sponsored Global Leadership Summit by way of illustration.

"Genuine Savings has emerged as a widely-used indicator of sustainable development. In this paper, we use long-term data stretching back to 1870 to undertake empirical tests of the
relationship between Genuine Savings (GS) and future well-being for three countries: Britain, the USA and Germany. Our tests are based on an underlying theoretical relationship between GS and changes in the present value of future consumption. Based on both single country and panel results, we find evidence supporting the existence of a cointegrating (long run equilibrium) relationship between GS and future well-being, and fail to reject the basic
theoretical result on the relationship between these two macroeconomic variables. This provides some support for the GS measure of weak sustainability. We also show the effects of modelling shocks, such as World War Two and the Great Depression."

Open Data (OD) programs have become popular. OD proponents argue that OD programs are necessary to reinvigorate participatory democracy and active citizenship. However, the debate between proponents and critics of these programs relies on anecdotal data. The paper describes a methodological innovation (dubbed “The Public Sector Information Exchange (PSIE)”) to automatically capture, process, store, and analyze metadata information about the Open Data (OD) information assets published by government agencies at any level of government (e.g., federal, national, regional, municipal) worldwide. The analysis of the initial PSIE data (currently only about some datasets published by U.S. federal agencies) supports the argument that OD programs have become the playground of a small number of agencies and that many OD information assets are either incomprehensible or impossible to find. The concluding section of the paper discusses how to incentivize agencies to improve cooperation with OD programs.

Müdir-i Mesul: Vatan, Sahib-i İmtiyaz: Evlad-ı Vatan başlıkları ile yayımlanan Neyyir-i Hakikat Gazetesi toplam 317 sayı yayımlanmıştır. Bayezid Kütüphanesi Hakkı Tarık Us koleksiyonu ve Ankara Milli Kütüphane koleksiyonlarında tespit ettiğimiz sayılar dairesinde; öncelikle gazetenin tanıtımı, yayın politikası, yazarları ve şahit olduğu önemli tarihi olaylar karşısındaki tutumunu yansıtmaya çalışacağız.
Bitola, located both in terms of Turkish History and the History of the Balcans is a very important city. The Ottoman Turks, who dominate the city in XIV. century till 1912, have played active roles in social, cultural and economic development of Bitola. İn this context, Turks, who left also many works around Bitola, influenced life of the citys’s press.
İn this study we have discussed Neyyir-i Hakikat because it is one of the prominent journal of Union and Progress among many newspapers and magazines published in Macedonia.
Neyyir-i Hakikat, which was published in 1908, 1909, 1910 and 1911 that witnessed the major political and social events, has rich historical material. The journal was published with the titles that “Responsible Manager: Homeland, Grantee: Son of Homeland. We do not know exactly how many numbers of the newspaper published so that within the framework of the number that we found in collections of Ankara National Library, firstly try to reflect history of journal, it’s presentation, publication policy, authors and attitude towards the witnessed important events"

"Environmental issues
The variables that have defined national security for the most part of the World’s history have largely been military in nature. Security was primarily made up of the physical defence of the country, its people and whatever they possessed. Profound factors outside the traditional area of military operations have been realised that could affect the securities of many countries.
It is within this background that environmental issues have raised to importance, and the term ‘Environmental Security’ has entered the language of environmentalists, policy makers and security planners. With the ending of the cold war, the usual concepts of the nature of national security and the methods to achieve it have changed. The global powers at the time were engaged in military containment of each other, as in the case of America and the Soviet Union containment of each other.

""""This study focuses on a very important side of Cold War, the non-declared war of radio stations. From 1948 and up to the decade of 1990 the two camps had been attributed in a fight of propaganda via the radio. From the one the Voice of America (VOA), the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) and Radio Luxembourg - Radio Free Europe (RL/RFE) and from the other Radio Moscow and the radio stations of other communistic states had begun a war in radio waves.
The situation was similar in Balkan peninsula. In 1948-1953 and because of the special circumstances arising from the outbreak of civil war in Greece, between the left and right wings of the political spectrum, and the creation of a new national state within the borders of Yugoslavia, the mass media in Greece and in the Yugoslav Socialist Republic of Macedonia (SDM) were used for purposes of propaganda and counter-propaganda both within the country and abroad, anticipating by several years the battle of ideas between the opposing ideological camps which was conducted over the radio waves throughout the Cold War period.
