The Luso-Brazilian Colonial Metalist Imaginary: The Serra das Esmeraldas during the second half of 17th century. The Serra das Esmeraldas is a legendary Hill, usualy localized on Espirito Santo Capitaincy’s hinterland during the colonial period of Brazil. During several years, a diversity of adventures and bandeirantes left to the wilderness in search of something waiting for them somewhere unknown. Sérgio Buarque de Holanda stands up to the idea that de Hill was part of a group of myths kept and brought by the Portuguese from Europe to America, acting like an ideal scenario formulated from their experiences and mythologies. The hill’s endurance in the colonial imaginary makes us pay more attention on Espirito Santo’s documents, even though this fantastic place is not present only in the imaginary of the capixaba’s settlers, but in all of Brazil.

"The study focuses on the republican murals painted on the walls of two cities, Belfast and Derry, in May 2009. The idea for the study was born during a trip to Northern Ireland during which I had the opportunity to observe the murals and to talk with some of the authors and with persons who had actually experienced
the events represented in the murals.
The nationalist murals have been studied by the author under different perspectives: language, iconography, political symbolism and social environment. Murals are, for sure, the community’s reaction to the British political and violent domination on Northern Ireland and they become instruments of rebellion representing
a collective request for freedom and independence. But they also represent a more complex phenomenon as they embody values and perspectives of the entire nationalist community in Northern Ireland. The study analyses the murals both as single artworks and as a collective phenomenon.A strong focus is given at all the political and social themes represented in the murals and at the different linguistic and iconographic styles of communication
as well as how different themes and styles combine. The nationalist murals are also examined under an artistic perspective with a special focus on the figure of the “artista armato”, the artist as a warrior that uses art as an instrument for communicating higher, collective (moral, social, religious, political) values. This
perspective brings the author to draw and analyse a parallel between the phenomenon of nationalist murals and Futurist art: a comparison based on the themes represented in the artworks, on the placing of the art pieces and on the social role of the artists.
If words, pictures and colours used in the nationalist murals become, as analysed in the study, the voice of the Catholic community in Northern Ireland, a voice not so often listened in the EU, it becomes crucial to understand what the artists
want to communicate, why and how. This study aims also to open up to a new research perspective based on a multidisciplinary approach through the integrated use of semiotics and semantics in ethnography in order to offer a more complete and holistic interpretation of the phenomenon of the Northern Irish republican
murals."

This paper provides an overview of the successive stages and major trends of psychology in New Spain. What we call ‘psychology’ is found in all sorts of general speculation about the soul, but also in considerations concerning the Amerindian psyche and the way mental disorders are understood and described, diagnosed and treated. It is shown how all this is mainly accomplished by the Indian defenders, the scholastic philosophers, the hippolytes and the enlightened intellectuals. In the three centuries of history of Novohispanic psychology (1521-1821), special attention is given to outstanding figures such as Vasco de Quiroga, Julián Garcés, Bartolomé de las Casas, Alonso de la Veracruz, Bernardino Álvarez, Juan de Palafox, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Juan Benito Díaz de Gamarra and José Ignacio Bartolache.

Abstract
The Canary Islands and the North of Africa from an Archaeological and Historiographical Perspective». In this paper we analyze how it was dealt the connection between the Canary Islands and the North of Africa in the historiographical tradition developed between the 14th and 20th centuries, paying attention to the different theoretical models developed to explain the first human settlement of the islands. At the same time, we will analyze how
it was built and evolved, from the historiographical and archaeological point of view, the connection between the Canaries and the North of Africa.""

ENGLISH: The 2001 Argentinean crisis opened up political opportunities for the emergence of a new political actor: the “assembly social movement”. This article is based on the ethnographic observation of several cases of assemblies in Buenos Aires from 2002 to 2003, but using as paradigmatic examples the groups that would constitute themselves as the moderate and radical wings, respectively, the Palermo Viejo Neighborhood Assembly and the El Cid Popular Assembly. This empirical study of mobilization structures allows us to conclude saying that this is a networked, segmented, decentralized social movement.""
