Communication

This chapter explores patterns of communication between human hunters and the non-human animal, Corvus corax—the common raven. The scope of the chapter includes the general historical and anthropological context in which humans have interacted with ravens. The primary method utilized is semiotic analysis of historical and anthropological literature, along with personal ethnography. As the study of signs and sign processes, semiotics provides useful insights into ways both human and non-human animals give meaning to their world. Results demonstrate the potential for interspecies communication as a postmodern corrective to the human/nature divide imposed by modernism.

These interviews were conducted and recorded during the 2014 Southwest Popular Culture/American Culture (SWPACA) conference and the 2014 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC). Several were recorded during the SWPACA conference itself and thus there is ambient noise in the background; transcripts have been provided for individuals who would like to follow along with what is being said. There are several LGI members I was unable to interview; their absence is in no way indicative of their work or presence in LGI.

This paper examines how the 100 most-followed Colombian journalists on Twitter move away from their traditional journalistic norms and practices when covering a controversial politician, former president Alvaro Uribe. Through a content analysis, this study shows that journalists not only evaluated negatively the comeback of Uribe to the political arena but also that they were willing to openly share their opinion of this politician on Twitter. This research project also found that journalists who work for elite-traditional media tend to be more in accord with their journalistic norms compared with non-elite reporters. Colombian journalists seem to have understood the new dynamic of social networks as they have also moved away from their traditional position as gatekeepers by linking external media information in their tweets. Given the violent conditions of politics in Colombia, transparency continues to be an issue that needs to be analyzed beyond the political discussion. Este presente artigo tem como objetivo discutir um método de análise da Comunicação pelos conceitos de “afeição” e “afeto” em Spinoza, a partir do comentário de Gilles Deleuze. Visa-se, dessa forma, abrir debate para uma fenomenologia dos afetos, presenciado, sobretudo, nos meios maquínicos de comunicação. Até por esse motivo, classificamos o método a ser apresentado como uma projeção contemporânea dos conceitos modernos de Spinoza. Em um segundo momento, propomos pensar a comunicação a partir dos afetos e agenciamentos para além do “humano”, adotando uma ontologia achatada que dialogue com a possibilidade das comunicações entre coisas ou seres viventes. Para isso, ainda que de maneira muito concisa, traremos algumas discussões da “ontologia orientada às máquinas” (BRYANT, 2014) ou a “ontologia orientada aos objetos” (HARMAN, 2011).

The Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Network (LRWPAN) /ZigBee standard is used for wireless command
distribution to different subsystems in a spacecraft. The wireless TC system is designed to operate at 100Bps. In this paper
we propose wireless TC-TM system for satellite communication and design, un-slotted CSMA/CA with non-beacon enabled
network is used for wireless data transmission. It also presents wireless satellite architecture and highlights the usage of
wireless technology in space application. It also highlights the advantage and difficulties in implementing the wireless
system in satellite.

La communication en courant porteur CPL (PLC en anglais) consiste à superposer un signal de haute fréquence à un signal de basse fréquence. Ce qui permet d’utiliser le réseau électrique d’alimentation pour la communication.
La communication à travers les lignes d’alimentation est sujette à de fortes perturbations dues à la nature du réseau d’alimentation ; l’énergie consommée par chaque élément branché sur le réseau dépend des caractéristiques de cet élément; ce qui altère l’impédance du réseau et par le fait même les caractéristiques du canal de transmission.

Maior levantamento sobre os hábitos de informação dos brasileiros, a “Pesquisa Brasi-leira de Mídia 2015” (PBM 2015) revela que a televisão segue como meio de comuni-cação predominante, que o brasileiro já gasta cinco horas do seu dia conectado à in-ternet e que os jornais são os veículos mais confiáveis. Encomendada pela Secretaria de Comunicação Social da Presidência da República (SECOM) para compreender como o brasileiro se informa, a PBM 2015 foi realizada pelo IBOPE, entre os dias 05 e 22 de novembro de 2014, por meio de entrevistas domiciliares pessoais face-a-face, quando 200 entrevistadores aplicaram 85 perguntas a 18.312 pessoas maiores de 16 anos em 848 municípios. Como principal característica, manteve-se a representatividade nacio-nal da pesquisa de 2014, com uma amostra que retrata adequadamente cada um dos 26 Estados e o Distrito Federal (DF).
