I had a great time moderating this exceptional panel, where we discussed the MENA conflict, rising bond yields and whether investors are measuring risk appropriately. Many thanks to the panel. Jan Friederich explained that MENA ratings have remained remarkably stable despite the conflict, supported by strong balance sheets. Zerlina Zeng, CFA made the audience laugh with her observation that investors love the yield but hate the spread, while highlighting the surge in AUD issuance as they seek greater diversification. Last but not least, David Dredge argued that investors should increase their risk exposure while strengthening their risk management. To borrow his football analogy, players spend most of their time in midfield, but most of the impact happens at both ends of the pitch: by attacking and scoring, and by defending against goals.
