As AI becomes more capable and agentic, models themselves become more of a commodity, and all value gets created by how you steer, ground, and finetune these models with your business data and workflow — and how they compose with the UI layer of human to AI to human interaction. That’s why today we are announcing wave two of Microsoft 365 Copilot.

As a former Microsoft employee and huge Copilot user, I am excited about this. However, whatever AI the PR team used to create this message made Satya sound soulless in the announcement above. As AI becomes more prevalent in our lives, having messaging that is from a human and exhibits their passion, excitement, etc. is so important. So go Copilot 2.0, but sheesh MS PR team, do better to capture and communicate Satya's voice - its a miss here.

Satya Nadella: While I appreciate the capabilities of Microsoft’s UI/UX team, I’ve observed that some design elements, particularly the use of color schemes and typography, do not always facilitate an intuitive user experience. At times, navigating through Microsoft products, including Bing, can feel cumbersome and confusing, As we move into a new era of AI-driven products, UX and UI will be crucial factors for market capture, especially as we rely on OpenAI to fuel these advancements. A more user-centric design approach could significantly strengthen Microsoft's position in this competitive landscape.

Absolutely, the evolution of AI from a mere tool to a fundamental component of business value is crucial. As AI models become more standardized, the real differentiation will indeed come from how businesses integrate and customize these models within their unique data environments and workflows. The focus on steering, grounding, and fine-tuning AI to align with specific business needs, as well as optimizing the human-AI interaction, is key to unlocking true value. I'm excited to see how Microsoft 365 Copilot's wave two builds on these principles. It sounds like a significant step forward in enhancing productivity and ensuring that AI serves not just as a resource, but as an integral part of business processes and decision-making

Satya, this marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of AI's integration into our workflows. As AI models become increasingly commoditized, the differentiator will no longer be the underlying algorithms but how we personalize them to meet specific business contexts (and that's where the right data is key!). The real value for users isn’t about the complexity of the technology, but how intuitively and seamlessly it helps solve real-world problems. By grounding AI in everyday workflows, Microsoft 365 Copilot's next wave promises to elevate the human-AI collaboration, making it easier for users to focus on what truly matters — achieving their goals with simplicity and efficiency.

It's impressive how the word 'agentic' is spreading in the AI conversations. Seems like our 'signal' is getting stronger Cristiano Kruel, xBA

I have one hope for AI: that as it evolves and integrates into our lives, its appearance and behavior are secondary to its ability to deliver safe, reliable results. AI should enhance, not replace, human capabilities. While it holds the promise of empowering us and expanding our collective knowledge, we must remember it cannot always be trusted blindly. By leveraging AI responsibly, we can foster a smarter, more informed society where increased intelligence and understanding are accessible to all

💯. Verification of these models will be critical and differentiated as models become commodities

But sir, Microsoft Copilot need to have better interface than Chatgpt. UX is the strength, currently prompts are given as text instead of communication models which even layman can do. The solution is in the middle, assisted prompt using GUI interface is the way to go. Haven't you see avatar makers, it takes our pic and asks questions like which hairstyle, need moustache? So a communication flow of fine tuning the result helps in better output.

As AI becomes more widespread, its true value lies in how businesses adapt it to their unique data and workflows. Microsoft’s release of the second wave of 365 Copilot underscores this, showing that success with AI hinges on how well it fits into existing processes and enhances human-AI collaboration. This update is set to help businesses maximize productivity through smarter use of AI.

My question is: If you eliminate the middle class with AI, who is going to buy these products?
