Higher rates are changing the equation for private markets, with implications for valuations, exits and the cost of capital. NEPC’s Sarah Samuels, CFA, CAIA joined Michael Santoli on CNBC Overtime to discuss the impact of the shifting rate environment across private equity, private credit and hedge funds. “Just because there’s a lag in valuation marks doesn’t mean there’s a lag in the cost of capital for these companies.” Watch the full conversation: https://hubs.ly/Q04yf2Qt0

One of the challenges for private market investors is that valuations can be slow to reflect a changing rate environment, even as the cost of capital changes in real time. I joined Michael Santoli on CNBC Overtime to discuss how higher interest rates are playing out across private equity, private credit and hedge funds, and what investors should be paying attention to beyond reported valuations. Thank you to Michael for the conversation. Watch it here: https://cnb.cx/4hjriQ1

We’re back in a narrow market phase. That was the main message I shared on CNBC Overtime with Michael Santoli and Melissa Lee. The NASDAQ 100 remains a relative favorite as strong earnings trends back price momentum. We are less comfortable stepping into laggards near-term without more geopolitical and macro clarity. Including lower rates. https://lnkd.in/g9iZeyZq

https://lnkd.in/e-XCPCPC On Wednesday we were able to stop by the NASDAQ for a CNBC Closing Bell Overtime feature to discuss the state of the Semis trade. We bet our life basically on this a few years ago and think it can continue... and still very excited. The memory and CPU stocks, have been highlighted in recent work, but what was cut off at the end here was a big comment on a call on NVIDIA into earnings on May 20th!! We think it's got more to go to catch up to the rest of the valuations in the group - fingers crossed. Happy Mother's Day to you all - especially my wonderful Mom! Melius Research CNBC Overtime
