Erdogan’s Enver Pasha Dream: The Revival of the “Army of Islam”

On July 10, 1918, the Ottoman Minister of War, Enver Pasha, ordered the formation of the “Islamic Army of the Caucasus” in order to repel the Armenian forces in South Caucasus, unite all the Turkic nations in the region under the banner of Islam, and capture the oil fields of Baku. Enver’s initiative was quite successful and played a major role in the Caucasus campaign during World War I; however, it had clashed with the German an

  1. This is a war by Russia, specifically Putin, against Armenia.

Putin is angry at Armenia because it is not the slave it wishes it to be.

FACT: Pashinyan has been no more pro-Western than his predecessors. Recall Armenia’s membership in NATO’s Partnership peace and troops in Afghanistan. Plus Western investments, large Western embassies, the western-funded mining operation, and too much more to list here.

So Putin has allowed in Turkey, F-16s, jihadis, and ISIS in Russia’s backyward just to “get back at” Armenia.

We always knew from history (1920, land giveways to Turkey and Azerbaijan, aid to Ataturk, weapons to Erdogan and Aliyev) that Russia was unreliable.

    Now Russia has proven it.

Russia could have stopped this war in 2 minutes by threatening the three oil and gas pipelines of Azerbaijan that go west.

This changes forever Armenia’s view of Russia.

A war all because Putin threw a temper tantrum and wants to punish Armenians.

Look at the comments by Russians on the web. They think Azerbaijan is a better ally than Armenia. Sick.

    1. Russia, like most of Western Europe is toothless. Just look at what happened in Paris this week when a teacher was beheaded in the street by a Chechen Islamist. Russia bends over backwards to appease the murderous despots such as Aliyev and Erdoğan because Erdoğan threatened Putin that he will incite the 25 million Muslims who live in the heart of Russia. So Putin has given in to Erdogan’s blackmail like Merkel in Germany. Russia is throwing Armenia to the grey wolves.

  2. We must revive the ASALA and the Armenian Commandos to get read of Erdogan and Aliev before they get rid of us again.

  3. We should not be relying on the Russians and should aim for total military independence. Develop Nuclear weapons a well. That is the only protection we can have. We have a terrible geopolitical situation. The only way out is Military Might. Forget assistance from other countries. We should keep raising money for rebuilding the destroyed parts of Artsakh and build up the military. There is no other alternative.

    1. I agree with Jack, our region will always be under pressure and to be sure for surviving and continue our existence, we need to support and develop our military and researchers and stay united, it’s not about personal results and egoism, if we don’t have high tech and military independence we are risking genocide and to loose our land(no one will give it back to us, make your choice!)

    2. The first step to have a nuclear power station, and we have one now. Yes, those Iskander missiles can carry nuke heads right to Erdoghan’s 1000 rooms Palace and evaporate Anvar Pasha’s memories off his bipolar brain permanently.

  4. “This is a war by Russia, specifically Putin, against Armenia.”

“A war all because Putin threw a temper tantrum and wants to punish Armenians.”

That makes absolutely no sense. If it’s Russia who’s at war with Armenia, then what the hell are Azerbaijan and Turkey doing in all of this? By the way, Russia recently sent another huge supply of military arms to Iran, which will be sent to Armenia. Thank you Russia!

In terms of the Russia-Armenia military agreement, in which Russia would be obligated to help defend Armenia in case of a military attack by another country (this does not apply to Artsakh), Pashinyan, so far, has not requested any assistance from Putin.

“Just look at what happened in Paris this week when a teacher was beheaded in the street by a Chechen Islamist.”

Yeah, that was sickening. But, in terms of people being killed on the street, that happens every day in the country where you live (USA). And, most of the people doing those killings happen to be Christians: White American Christians, African-American Christians, and Latino Christians.

“Erdogan threatened Putin that he will incite the 25 million Muslims who live in the heart of Russia.”

Why did you enormously increase the number of Muslims by ten million? The 2017 Survey Religious Belief and National Belonging in Central and Eastern Europe made by the Pew Research Center showed that 73 percent of Russians declared themselves Christians, while 15 percent were unaffiliated, 10 percent were Muslims, and one percent were from other religions.

Therefore, if you take ten percent out of Russia’s current population of 146.7 million (2020 census), it comes out to almost 15 million Muslims.

Putin, is not the slightest bit threatened by Erdogan, just the same way that Putin is not the slightest bit threatened by that silly American clown in the White House. Moreover, Putin has done a terrific job in standing up against any potential terror by Turkic Muslim extremists, over in the southern part of Russia.

“Look at the comments by Russians on the web. They think Azerbaijan is a better ally than Armenians.”

I would definitely say that those comments are being made by Turkbaijanis, who pretend to be Russians. Here in Armenia, all of the Russians I’ve met, have been very supportive of both Armenia and Artsakh.

    1. Putin has lost Georgia, most of Ukraine, and will lose Belarus. Now he is telling Armenia that it cannot trust him. Guess how that is going to turn out.

When Turkey years and months ago sent weapons (and now F-16s) into Azerbaijan, Putin did nothing. No problem, says Putin.

Putin has allowed Turkey, Azerbaijan, and jihadists to attack Artsakh and yes Armenia itself has been attacked over the years.

It’s like when Stalin gave away Armenian land to Turkey and Azerbaijan in hopes of making them allies. It didn’t work then.

Now Putin is doing the same thing. He thinks he is making friends of the Turkics. They hate him and he has no idea.

Turkey is not going to leave Azerbaijan no matter how this war turns out.

I am always amused by some Armenians’ trust in Putin though it’s not really funny.

  5. Russia is the only ally and play that Armenia has. Good or bad. But that has its limitations as well. Its mediating between Azerbaijan and Armenia/Artsakh and cant outright fight for Armenia as a “neutral” party. It does some good via military technology, intelligence and cost effective military hardware especially the 3 plane loads headed to Armenia before the Sept 27th war started. I remember that clearly as the Azeri’s were complaining at the beginning of this war. Also this time there was a massive 150k troop, Russian-Armenian military mountain drills in tandem with the Turkish/Azeri drills meaning they knew this was going to happen and preparing for it. Though lets be honest, Russia not really caring for Armenia, isn’t stupid either. They realize that losing Artsakh/Armenia would put Muslim Turks directly under its belly, meaning a disaster for Russia as well for generations to come. Further Jihad mercenaries changes the whole structure and game for all involved in the direct region. And hopefully YEREVANIAN’s comment is correct, meaning more military hardware coming to Armenia via Iran, as the MOD spokesperson’s recent comments attests too by stating that the Azeris will see the new “Qualitative and Quantitative” meaning that Armenia/Artsakh has more hardware coming? Lets hope..

To me Pashinyan isn’t war savvy like the Karbakh “presidents” before him. But hopefully he is learning on the job. Whats really missing is: DIASPORA ARMY UNITS direct involvement. I have been saying this for years. Taking our future in our own hands is the only answer.. Relying less on anyone else by indoctrinating Diaspora Army units is the answer. Imagine another 40k-60k troops trained ready in these cases, stationed or flying in from all over the world uniting to fight a common enemy? Besides the man power imagine the real resources and mobilization this would generate from all over the world because diaspora kids are now on the front line? It would be huge. Also many would stay and repopulate and contribute directly after service. ITS A WIN WIN WIN..Armenia cant ignore this anymore..

We must win this war. There is no alternative.
