[edit]

Hello am reaching out to humbly request for a re-review regarding the above article that got rejected, i believe that it meets Wikipedia's article requirements and it is well referenced with the links from the well known News websites Thank you.

~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:27, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I am afraid this person does not meet our criteria, please see WP:Notability (people). qcne (talk) 18:28, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
To be honest you need to recheck again and also explain to me why he is not meeting the criteria ~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:34, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, let's go through your sources one at a time:
  1. A blatant promo piece.
  2. Another blatant promo piece.
  3. And another!
  4. A fourth!
All your sources are unreliable promotional likely paid-for pieces. qcne (talk) 18:37, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Nope it ain't no promo because the guy is a well known TikToker so the editors of those media did cover his story ~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:42, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Disagree. qcne (talk) 18:43, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have gone through your page and found this article Bull (band) as am seeing it it lacks references but because you're the one wrote it is approved this is not fair tbh ~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:39, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
That article has 8 references? qcne (talk) 18:40, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
It does not have 8 references but 4 strong references from big medias like Mpasho, Kenyan Vibe, Ghafla Kenya & Hivi leo. If you do your research well you'll understand for sure, am wondering that you're saying that they are promo sources becauese it is not easy to make it to be published on Media websites ~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:45, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
All the sources on your draft are exceedingly poor promotional pieces. They are worthless. Please read WP:Reliable sources. qcne (talk) 18:46, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
When the reference provided is only mentioning a name of a person you complain, when it covers a story of a person and his/her career you say it's promotional jeez what do you guys want ? ~2026-51467-53 (talk) 18:53, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Khaqan Shaheen – guidance on notability

[edit]

Hello Qcne, and thank you for reviewing Draft:Khaqan Shaheen. I should say first that I have a conflict of interest: the draft is about me, and this is declared on the draft's talk page. I accept the rejection and am not asking you to reconsider it. I would just value your guidance for the future. Roughly what kind and how many independent sources would a person in my position (a company head of IT) need to meet WP:NBIO / WP:GNG? At the moment the only pages about me are my own site and the award organiser's winners lists (CXO DX), which I understand are not independent. I will not come back unless there is substantial independent coverage. Thank you for your time. ~2026-51797-61 (talk) 18:28, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @~2026-51797-61. I am afraid that with those sources you do not meet the requirements for an article. Wikipedia is not LinkedIn. We generally look for three or more independent, reliable sources with significant coverage. qcne (talk) 18:33, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Ride a Northbound Horse draft

[edit]

Thank you for reviewing the draft and for the specific feedback. I did an extensive search for additional coverage and was only able to locate two further sources, D23 and Rotten Tomatoes, which I have now added. I was not able to find contemporary reviews or other substantial independent coverage beyond the sources already cited.

For context, the film was a two-part Walt Disney Productions television feature aired nationally on NBC, adapted from Richard Wormser’s published novel, and featured a substantial cast including Carroll O’Connor, Jack Elam, Andy Devine, Ben Johnson, Dub Taylor, and Harry Carey Jr. I understand that these facts do not by themselves establish notability under Wikipedia’s guidelines, but I wanted to resubmit the draft with all of the additional sourcing I was able to locate and would appreciate another look. Administrators' newsletter – October 2026

[edit]

News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2026).

Administrator changes

Oversight changes

removed

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, the good article criteria have been amended to add accessibility requirements.
  • Following an RfC, late signatures added to administrator recall petitions after 720 hours from opening are reverted or struck and do not count towards the threshold, even if the petition has not yet been formally closed.
  • The post-May 2026 administrator elections RfCs concluded with consensus for election monitors to curate blatantly inappropriate questions after posting, and to remove or merge true duplicates, clearly marking merged questions. Calls for candidates will include advisory guidance that users with less than one year’s experience or 5,000 edits generally lack a realistic chance of success.

Technical news

  • Interface administrators no longer need to specify the ResourceLoader option in the definitions for gadgets on MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition as gadgets are always loaded through ResourceLoader. (T298199)
  • The list=abusefilters API module now supports formatversion=2 and includes breaking changes to its responses. In particular, the actions property is now a JSON array rather than a string, regardless of the format version. Maintainers of user scripts and other code using this module should check compatibility and update their code as needed. (T435828)

Arbitration

Obituaries

  • Doug Weller passed away on 30 September 2026. Doug Weller began editing Wikipedia in 2006 and became an administrator in 2008, making nearly 275,000 edits over two decades. He served on the Arbitration Committee from 2015 through 2018 and was also a longtime CheckUser and Oversighter.

It's pretty evident that you've seen my condolences to Daisy on Discord already, but I just figured that I'd leave some other stuff. Similar to other dead ones and relatives, people in my country offer dead animals that were very dear to us: foods, drinks, and toys that it found comfort or enjoyment in. Help with finalization of draft - Gerald Jonas (biography) article

[edit]

Hello, you helped me in early September with a draft article for "Gerald Jonas". I keep checking back (and I reinitiated a conversation with another Wikipedia editor who had also helped) and I'm not sure what to do. The other user (I'm sorry, I'm struggling to know who I am talking to and how to access their handles when I'm not on their Talk page or the draft article's Talk page) has indicated that the draft article is discouraging approval engagement (still) due to some of the same problems I felt I'd addressed and corrected in early September.

The other editor gave me a few examples and I tried to clean up a couple (mostly by deleting references that were indicated as off-putting/weak)...but I'm reluctant to further eviscerate the article. (The general comment, if I understood correctly, is that the draft reads like a "bibliography" rather than a "biography", but the subject is a 91-yo life-long writer/journalist/poet, so I'm at a loss how a summary of his career wouldn't be sort of "bibliography" leaning??)

I'm new to Wikipedia (my first page/draft) and quite discouraged, honestly. I wish I knew how to access some focused help in getting the article published, so others could maybe improve my initial effort's weaknesses once it's live. The subject of the article is now aware that I am trying to publish an article about him, so I'm hopeful that those who know him will chip in with "improve/correct the article" edits, once it is live. Does that make sense? Can you help? Is there somewhere I can be/should be asking for help? I'm at a loss.... - Lisa VancouverWriter (talk) 02:02, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if this is relevant or helpful, but I grabbed the URL of the other Wikipedia editor who was fairly discouraging, this weekend, about the quality of my draft-waiting-for-approval-attention. On their Talk page, there is a recent communication (their critique points and my attempted edits....in the Draft: Gerald Jonas article, I can see that the new edits/changes I tried to make a day or two ago didn't "stick"....I don't know why, but maybe to do with the draft approval process??). As I said, I'm at a loss...and this user hasn't replied to my (admittedly frustrated) last posts on their Talk page. Honestly, the back-and-forth caused me to google, trying to figure out what is legitimate "volunteer help" on Wikipedia and what might be a front for a scam...I'm so new, I'm lost. Here's the other user (and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, as clearly a new article writer, like me, is going to produce a first article that isn't the best....hence my welcome of help, as well as what I thought, until this person's response, might just be a "normal" very long, patient waiting period): User talk:Bobby Cohn - Lisa VancouverWriter (talk) 02:13, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi again @VancouverWriter.
Edits on Wikipedia are publicaly logged, so if we look at the Jonas Revision history you can see the last edit to it was 6 September 2026 by you, when you submitted it for review. We can also look at your contributions, and we can see there are no other edits to that draft in the last month.
If you made more edit to Draft:Gerald Jonas but they're not appearing, it's likely you didn't "save" those edits by pressing the Publish changes… button at the top of the editor window. Wikipedia doesn't have an automatic save feature like Microsoft Word or Google Docs, and every time you want to save an edit you need to press that button. I'm sorry, that is really frustrating for you. Wikipedia isn't the easiest to use.
I also noticed you've left a couple of messages at Draft talk: Gerald Jonas, asking about the review process and what you can do next. Just to explain how Wikipedia works, a draft's talk page isn't really a help desk or a way of contacting reviewers. It's a place for editors to discuss the draft itself. Nobody is assigned to monitor that Talk page or answer questions posted there, and posting a message doesn't automatically alert anyone. Unless someone happens to visit the page (which is exceedingly unlikely, when we have 30,000 of these pages) your message will just go unnoticed. That's why you haven't received any replies there, rather than anyone deliberately ignoring you.
If you need help with editing or the review process, the Articles for creation Help desk is a much better place to ask. It's specifically intended for questions like yours, although it's not a way to request an expedited review.
One point, is that your replies tend to be quite long and detailed, often raising several different questions or concerns at once. I totally understand that you're trying to explain yourself thoroughly, but everyone here is a volunteer, and reading through a lengthy discussion, checking the various points raised, and putting together a thoughtful reply can take quite a bit of time. I suspect this may be why you haven't always received a response as quickly as you'd hoped.
You may find that keeping your messages shorter and focused will make it easier for other editors to help you. Please don't be discouraged from asking questions! But being concise helps both you and us.
As for Bobby Cohn, I've read through your discussion with him, and I think he's been trying to offer you constructive advice in good faith.
However, I do have some good news for you.
I had some time today so I will edit the draft myself to make it better comply with our policies and guidelines. I'll let you know how I get on. qcne (talk) 16:21, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! For the time you might have for Gerald Jonas' draft....and for your explanation of the Wikipedia culture/communication norms. It has been an awkward learning curve for me, for sure.
Conciseness is important in communications. I'm a writer (and a poet!) so I know this. But, as Twain said, ""I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead." I will try harder...I 'hear' the higher principle you are explaining.
Let me know how I can help. I'm eager for your evaluation of the draft. I'm 100% convinced Gerald Jonas is big "missing puzzle piece" from Wikipedia and has been for a long time. As I mentioned elsewhere, Mr. Jonas now knows an article has been drafted, and I suspect I can get his attention for help on edits/refinements, particularly if he can "surf" to his Wikipedia page easily (he is 90+ yo). - Lisa VancouverWriter (talk) 17:24, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi again @VancouverWriter. I have re-written and now accepted the draft. It is now an article! It is live on the main encylopedia, and anyone can now edit and improve it. It will be indexed by search engines like Google within about 90 days.
You will see that I substantially re-wrote the prose and removed quite a few citations (as well as added some citations I found). Thank you for developing the framework for the draft which really helped in my re-write.
I hope you continue to contribute to Wikipedia. Do feel free to use my re-write as a structural template to develop any further drafts. qcne (talk) 18:07, 19 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Bladezxd. You have not declared that you are being paid to edit by Radtke and have a conflict of interest. This is mandatory and a breach of Wikipedia's Terms of service. Please immediately follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
I left feedback on the draft decline notice outlining why I declined the draft, did you read it and follow the links to our policies and guidelines? To summarise, you did not prove that Radtke meets our criteria for inclusion. qcne (talk) 23:25, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
My sincere apologies. I did not disclose that and will add that somewhere in the Article. We have shown notably through each article we put on the wikipedia page. How else can we prove he meets criteria? he’s been on television more than 18 years of his life. Do we add clips to prove as such? Thank you. Bladezxd (talk) 23:29, 21 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Bladezxd None of the sources you used prove notability. Notability is proven through significant coverage in multiple, reliable, secondary sources. That excludes tabloids, gossip pieces, and churnalism. All your sources fall into one of those.

Hi @Jbjbsaja. I am afraid you haven't demonstrated that this person meets our very strict criteria for inclusion. At this time, they do not meet our criteria for an article on Wikipedia. qcne (talk) 08:20, 22 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Kdesh86 (12:40, 23 October 2026)

[edit]

Hi QCNE - Nice to meet you. I wanted to inquire about reliability of independent sources. I was recently editing an article (practicing) about a song and one of the sentences was around it appearing on the charts in the UK in the 80s. While there were no articles about it appearing on the charts at a specific number, I found a source which wasn't a publication but rather a record of charts in different countries showing which song was ranked how in particular years. I did find that being cited in a different article about charts in given years. Is that considered reliable? It is almost like citing IMDB as a source of truth. Just curious what your thoughts are? --Kdesh86 (talk) 12:40, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi there @Kdesh86!
It would be useful if you could show me the source you found, then I can have a better idea of if it's reliable or not.
It's worth noting though that IMDb specifically isn't a reliable source on Wikipedia because it is user-edited, see WP:IMDB for more info. It shouldn't be used as a source of truth for articles, though we do allow it as an external link at the bottom of articles. qcne (talk) 19:28, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi! Thank you for your response. This is the source in question - https://web.archive.org/web/20250119153040/https://www.officialcharts.com/songs/kws-rock-your-baby/
I also found similar sources cited on this page that I was editing - for additional citations - Rock Your Baby Kdesh86 (talk) 19:40, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yep, that is an acceptable source to use :) qcne (talk) 19:42, 23 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Some Candy Apples for you!

[edit]
Zahrazamedahmedi has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the preceding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!

'"On Psych, A USA Network TV series Episode 8, The Tao of Gus, Season 6, Shawn refers to pumpkins as "Halloween Apples" because he thinks all round fruits are a type of apple.

If Trick-or-treaters come your way, add {{subst:Halloween apples}} to their talkpage with a spoooooky message!
