Global Humanitarian Overview increase due to the Honduras drought

The Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) in Honduras has published a Flash Appeal following the drought that recently affected 233 municipalities concentrated in the Dry Corridor, including 103 municipalities under red alert across Choluteca, Comayagua, El Paraíso, Francisco Morazán, La Paz, Valle, Intibucá and Lempira. This brings the prioritized GHO requirements to $25B in order to support 92.8 million people urgently prioritized.

The Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) in Colombia has published an addendum to the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP), following the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that recently affected 15 departments and approximately 470 municipalities mainly in the departments of Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda and Caldas. This brings the prioritized GHO requirements to $24.9B in order to support 92.2 million people urgently prioritized.

Global Humanitarian Overview increases due to Ebola in DRC and Venezuela Earthquakes

Two humanitarian appeals have been revised in response to new emergencies, increasing the Global Humanitarian Overview figures to 256 million people in need, 147 million targeted for humanitarian assistance and protection and 92 million prioritized for the most urgent support. The 2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for Venezuela due to major emergencies have sharply increased humanitarian needs. In the DRC, the rapidly spreading Bundibugyo Ebola Virus Disease outbreak has compounded conflict, displacement and food insecurity, while in Venezuela devastating earthquakes have caused widespread destruction and loss of life, causing both appeals to be revised.

The 2026 Mid-Year review of the GHO : Delivering for People in Crisis against the Odds analyses global crises around the world, highlighting that violence, climate shock and health emergencies are the main drivers of needs. In June 2026, humanitarian partners are appealing for US$34 billion to assist 252 million people in crisis, with the immediate priority being to save 89 million lives. The mid-year review presents a picture of humanitarian’s achievements during the first five months of 2026 as well as what happens when aid comes under attack.

Issued in March 2026, Escalation in the Middle East and Beyond: The Humanitarian Response outlines the rapidly worsening humanitarian consequences of expanding hostilities across the Middle East and neighbouring regions. Civilians are bearing the brunt of the violence through deaths, displacement, destruction of essential services, and severe constraints on humanitarian access. The escalation has triggered the most significant global humanitarian supply‑chain disruptions since COVID‑19, driving up costs and delaying life‑saving assistance far beyond the region. Humanitarian partners are responding across Iran, Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Syria, Afghanistan and beyond, prioritizing life‑saving aid, protection of civilians, support to local responders, and respect for international humanitarian law, while urgently calling for de‑escalation and flexible funding to sustain the response.

The GHO 2026 presents an analysis of global crises and needs and the humanitarian plans to address them. In 2026, humanitarian partners are appealing for almost US$33 billion to assist 135 million people in crisis, with the immediate priority being to mobilize $23 billion to save 87 million lives. The GHO presents a collective picture of humanitarians' achievements and, conversely, what happens when humanitarians are unable to deliver aid.
