El sistema internacional durante los รบltimos 6 aรฑos ha sido testigo de una serie de cambios asรญ como de estratรฉgicos movimientos, todo los cuales han llevado a las unidades que son parte de รฉl a una encrucijada y permanente tensiรณn. Es, en esencia, un cuadro donde los procesos de transnacionalizaciรณn e interdependencia compleja han dominado la agenda polรญtica y econรณmica del mundo. Asรญ por ejemplo tres importantes procesos son visibles. Primero, lo cual dominรณ el discurso a lo largo de los 90s, el mundo esta siendo un privilegiado testigo de la erosiรณn de la idea de un orden unipolar. Segundo, como resultado de lo anterior, se observa como nuevos actores con alto potencial econรณmico y militar (estatales y no-estatales) se han incorporado a la arena global. Y tercero, se puede observar el decline de la influencia polรญtica de los Estados Unidos.

"This article suggests that Japan and South Korea should enhance cooperation on securing sea lines of communication and combating maritime piracy. This represents a niche opportunty for greater strategic cooperation, which would avoid the sensitive historical and territorial issues, currently burdening the bilateral relationship. Both states should consider new bilateral initiatives or pursue closer cooperation through multilateral fora.
Bilateral initiatives could include more frequent bilateral naval and coast guard exercises; information sharing and structured dialogue; an exchange programme for coast guard officers; and a Coastal Communities Initiative, which would help develop poor coastal communities in parts of Southeast Asia, where many of the pirate attacks originate.
Multilateral initiatives could include enhanced cooperation within existing mechanisms (such as the Singapore-based ReCAAP, ASEAN, or the ASEAN Regional Forum), or the establishment of new regional fora, such as the proposed Asia-Pacific Coast Guard Forum."

"Conventional narratives have largely ignored that, in Chinese eyes, the rich fishing grounds of the East and South China seas are as critical to Chinaโs future food security as oil and gas are to its energy future. If Beijing does not moderate its policy to protect and defend this resource, if necessary by force, the consequences could endanger regional stability and even Chinaโs own long-term security.

This article explores whether political corporate social responsibility (PCSR) may be better understood through its inclusion into the realm of high politics instead of its current characterization as belonging to low politics. The key argument is that the growing role of private companies in the provision of security is too widespread and its implications are too important to be ignored by the PCSR literature. By extending the scope of its inquiry into high politics, the insights from PCSR research could enrich the debates in several other social sciences that also study political roles of private companies. An interdisciplinary dialog about the numerous inroads of private companies into high politics could help the PCSR scholars in their quest to reach beyond an instrumental view of corporate politics.
