STEVE INSKEEP, Host:

In the 1980s, Janet Chapman started working in the quintessential dead- end job. She worked at McDonald's and found the dead end good enough. Chapman and a friend have both retired from the fast food restaurant in North Muskegon, Michigan. After decades on the job, Marlene Wickerink says it brings out the better parts of yourself. Chapman says she was very shy when she started. She ended up being the voice of the drive-through lane. It's MORNING EDITION.
