PAHAR — Mountain Geospatial Data for Pakistan and High Asia — is dedicated to preserving and sharing historical geographic records of the Himalayan, Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Pamir ranges.
Public Domain Status
The majority of documents, maps, and images hosted on PAHAR are historical materials published before 1928 and are in the public domain. These works are freely available for use, reproduction, and distribution without restriction.
Permitted Uses
- Personal research and study
- Academic and scholarly publication with appropriate attribution
- Educational use in schools, universities, and public institutions
- Non-commercial reproduction with credit to PAHAR as source
- Linking to PAHAR pages and documents
Restrictions
- Systematic or automated bulk downloading of the archive is prohibited
- Using PAHAR content to train AI or machine learning models without prior written permission is prohibited
- Republishing the PAHAR archive or substantial portions of it as a competing service is prohibited
- Misrepresenting the provenance or source of documents is prohibited
