  • 80% of daily AI users say AI has taught them as much as or more than their manager in the past 12 months. That's one of the striking findings from the Oliver Wyman Forum's new report, The Reality Check. Workforce and the reality that workers won’t embrace a future they believe excludes them is one of five realities the new report explores with insights and expert opinion. Drawing on 25,000+ survey responses across 15 markets, insights from 415 CEOs, and expertise from Quotient, AI by Oliver Wyman. Read The Reality Check: https://owy.mn/4spEqXL

  • “AI is all across the organization, except perhaps the bottom line, where it remains scarce. It’s because AI creates time, it creates capacity, but it doesn’t automatically create value.” That was the challenge John Romeo, CEO of Oliver Wyman Forum, put to CEOs at the 8th Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi this week. Are we watching the wrong race when it comes to AI? Oliver Wyman joined the wider Marsh delegation as an Exclusive Knowledge Partner at the Forum, which brought together 500 heads of state, government officials, and business leaders to discuss a world in play. The week began with the launch of the Marsh and Bloomberg New Economy Competitive Resilience Coalition, bringing together leaders from business and government to explore the decisions shaping resilience and competitiveness. And those decisions were at the heart of our conversations throughout the week. On AI, the challenge is turning efficiency into value. Drawing on findings from our new report, The Reality Check, John revealed that just 8% of organizations have a standard way of deciding what happens to time saved by AI. His example brought the challenge to life. An insurance claim might now be processed in seconds, but if it then sits in a queue for three days awaiting approval, you've made one step spectacularly efficient. You haven't transformed the organization. On cities, the competition for talent is becoming a competition for growth. Our Partner, Ben Simpfendorfer hosted a roundtable on talent as a place strategy, exploring what it takes for cities to attract and retain the people who will power their future economies. As AI reshapes the skills businesses need, good jobs alone are no longer enough. Housing, universities, quality of life, and opportunities to build careers across multiple companies all matter. Cities that get this combination right will be better positioned to attract investment and develop new industries. On technology, investment is only part of the equation. Our Partner, Abhishek Sharma joined a roundtable hosted by India's Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, exploring technology, infrastructure, and institutional resilience. A key theme was that investing in technology and infrastructure is essential, but so is building the institutions and capabilities needed to translate that investment into sustainable economic outcomes. Across the week, our Partners Chirag Adatia, Rajat Modwel, and Sumit Sarawgi also joined conversations spanning India's economic transformation, infrastructure, investment, healthcare, technology, and resilience. Scaling AI, responding to changing consumer demand, and turning investment into growth all demand more than ambition. At recent global forums, our leaders explored the decisions and actions needed to make progress. ➡️ At the Oliver Wyman Forum's Dialogues on the Future of Transportation event in Rome, senior executives and industry leaders came together to explore the transformative potential of AI in mobility. Our partner Federico Ucci presented the Industrial AI Divide report, setting the stage for a discussion with leading industry players on the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption in transportation. The conversation then shifted from strategic perspectives to practical examples of AI adoption at scale, with insights from innovative, tech-driven mobility companies. A key takeaway was that, despite being one of the most optimistic sectors about AI's potential, transportation still lags behind in scaling adoption, with only 16% of CEOs ranking AI among their top strategic priorities, calling for C-suite leadership, a focus on concrete business challenges, and a rethink of operating models, data strategies, and workforce capabilities. ➡️ Oliver Wyman partners Alex Shutter and Dave Nan XIE spoke at the 2026 China Consumer Conference of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai), which brought together business leaders to discuss the evolving Chinese consumer market. Their presentation, Growth Has Moved: The New Map of Consumer Value, explored how accelerating global decision-making, shifting Chinese consumer priorities, and new approaches to growth are reshaping the competitive landscape. Alex examined what global businesses can learn from the speed and agility of operating in China, while Dave explored how consumer spending is becoming more selective and why companies need to identify emerging demand, demonstrate tangible value, and act earlier. Key takeaways: Moving at China speed means recognizing changes in what consumers value and responding with relevant, evidence-backed offerings before opportunities pass. ➡️ The Bloomberg New Economy Forum in India brought together global business leaders, policymakers and innovators for timely conversations on the forces reshaping the global economy. Against the backdrop of India's growing role in global growth, discussions spanned AI and emerging technologies, infrastructure investment, the future of cities and the decisions needed to build economic resilience. From main-stage conversations to focused leadership roundtables, the Forum underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration and translating shared ambitions into tangible action.

  • Four years in, Gen AI is embedded across the business, yet many companies are still struggling to turn that activity into measurable value. Our new report sets out five reality checks: 1️⃣ Productivity without ownership is not ROI. 2️⃣ Workers will not embrace a future they believe excludes them. 3️⃣ AI is changing customers as well as companies. 4️⃣ Stronger governance can support growth. 5️⃣ Deeper AI adoption is creating new dependencies. Five topics, the same pattern emerges: AI capability is arriving faster than the decisions required to turn it into value. This report draws on more than 25,000 survey responses across 15 countries and territories, a survey of 415 CEOs conducted by the Oliver Wyman Forum and the NYSE, and insights from Quotient, AI by Oliver Wyman on agentic AI, value realization, operating-model change, and governance. Whether AI capabilities translate into durable advantage will depend on the decisions leaders make. As demand for AI infrastructure accelerates, how can we build data centers that are both sustainable and resilient? The answer starts with the decisions made early in development. In our latest video, the authors of our joint report with the World Economic Forum, Michael Donatti and Benoit Bégot, share key insights on why sustainability and resilience must be embedded from the outset, exploring how local constraints around energy, water, and land shape development decisions, and why getting these decisions right can help protect long-term asset value, reduce future costs, and strengthen business continuity. • Asset and wealth managers are growing, but the financial results show a widening performance gap: 1️⃣ Global AUM could reach $247 trillion by 2030. Household financial wealth is projected to approach $469 trillion. 2️⃣ Private markets are changing. Semi-liquid wealth vehicles grew approximately 25% in 2025, while traditional drawdown funds saw net capital contraction exceeding 2%. 3️⃣ Customized portfolios are gaining ground. US externally managed custom-model assets reached about $300 billion in the first quarter of 2026. They could reach $750 billion to $1.6 trillion by 2030. 4️⃣ Asia Pacific leads on projected growth rates. Household financial wealth is expected to grow 7.9% annually, while North America contributes almost half of incremental global wealth growth through 2030. 5️⃣ Tokenization is emerging, but from a small base. Tokenized real-world assets could reach $2.3 trillion by 2030, still less than 1% of projected global AUM. These shifts will require asset and wealth managers to make more selective decisions about products, distribution, and technology investment.
