When Is the Right Time to Hate?

    Leon Lotz of South Africa

    Leon Lotz of South Africa

    1,918 words

Sometimes I get so disgusted, heartbroken, and angry upon reading the news that for days I don’t venture past headlines. If I do, I might get sucked into a vortex of vitriol which can eat up both my time and equanimity. I wouldn’t be an effective and productive person if I had sparks of vengeance always flashing in my mind. Chips on one’s shoulder can become a burden, after all. Thus I often find it prudent to minimize the political content I consume while pursuing other interests. This helps make life bearable, not only for me but for the people who live and work with me as well. (more…)

    The True Believer

    Eric Hoffer
The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1951

In the years following the Second World War, Americans needed reassurances that the war and the hideous suffering it engendered had purpose. They wanted to know that their fathers and sons and husbands and brothers had not been killed or maimed for no reason at all, but somehow for the ultimate betterment of civilization. Such reassurances made everyone feel better. In 1951 a self-educated former stevedore named Eric Hoffer provided just the tonic for a still-grieving people—The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements. (more…)

    Get a Clue

    1,511 Words

In his 1991 work When Wish Replaces Thought, Steven Goldberg writes: “Any explanation of universality must be simple, if by ‘simple’ we mean parsimonious.” He explains further:

Likewise, if one wishes to offer a sufficient explanation of why every society is patriarchal—be the society in question feudal, capitalist, or socialist; autocratic, communist, or democratic; primitive, pre-industrial, or modern; puritan or libertine; Christian, Buddhist, or Moslem; matrilocal or patrilocal; matrilineal, patrilineal, or bilineal—then clearly plausibility demands a single cause. It makes no sense to explain patriarchy in feudal societies in terms of feudalism, in capitalist societies in terms of capitalism, etc. (more…)

Will Sexton, What Are You Saying?

    3,927 words

Will Sexton, AKA Vrillium, is a prolific Orthodox Christian YouTuber who offers erudite and witty takes on race, religion, and politics. He’s entertaining and he’s good at what he does. Yes, he does have a shady past. He may be a closet communist; he may be a bisexual. His political affiliation is difficult to pin down. He claims that he shares an audience with Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Sam Hyde, and openly admires Nick Fuentes. Yet he once claimed that he would support “gay race communism” (whatever that is) and even Ilhan Omar if it meant he could afford a house and not be sent to fight in Iran. (more…)

    Illiberal Solutions

    1,780 words

You can divide whites in the West today into two warring camps—those who yearn for illiberal solutions to modern problems and those who are afraid of illiberal solutions to modern problems. There are no liberal solutions. Instead, what liberalism offers is freedom and the hope that with the increased power freedom bestows upon people, any concurrent problems will be, on balance, tolerable. And by tolerable, I mean preferable to tyranny. (more…)

Mike Adams, who was hounded to death by the woke mob.

    1,553 Words

By now we all know that Jason Arday has died, likely by suicide. His widely-publicized story has become infamous despite hardly being a month old. The upshot is that he was a black academic who was awarded a professorship in sociology by the woke elites at Cambridge University when he did not have credentials for it. What Arday did have was the capacity to lie. (more…)

    On Race and Pride

Caravaggio, Narcissus at the Source, c. 1597–1599, Palazzo Barberini, Rome.

    1,593 words

One of my favorite anecdotes about classical music involves how the American pianist Van Cliburn won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in 1958. He did so to the apparent consternation of the Soviets, who hosted the competition. During the Cold War, many among the organizers saw this competition as an opportunity to demonstrate Soviet cultural superiority over the decadent West. But Cliburn truly dazzled with his performance of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. According to the official story, the judges wanted to award him first prize, but first had to ask Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev for permission since an American victory could be viewed as a defeat for the Soviets. “Was he the best?” Khrushchev was reported to have asked. “Then give him the prize.” (more…)

    Knut Hamsun’s Pan

    1,080 words

    Hamsun, Knut
Pan: From Lieutenant Thomas Glahn’s Papers
    Copenhagen: P.G. Philipsen, 1894

In depicting a fictional world of blood and soil, Norwegian author Knut Hamsun is unsurpassed. We get a sense of this in his classic 1917 novel Growth of the Soil, which helped secure his Nobel Prize in Literature in 1920. In it we meet Isak of Sellanraa who builds a farm and a legacy out of the primeval Norwegian countryside. 1894’s Pan however takes man’s pre-modern, pantheistic relationship with nature to mystic heights and almost nightmarish depths. Nature is the novel—the plot, the prose, the main characters, the bells and whistles, everything. Pan not so much depicts this relationship as it embodies it. While Isak of Sellanraa farms—and subdues nature in the process—Thomas Glahn hunts and lives among nature. While Isak builds a family, Thomas survives alone. (more…)

Why I Walked Out of the Minions Movie

    1,305 words

I went to see the new Minions movie and walked out after around fifteen or twenty minutes. Here’s why.

Minions & Monsters starts with kids at a film history museum where they see a statue of—who else?—the Minions. Seeing that they are curious about these yellow overalled creatures, the guide tells them the story of the Minions. The long story naturally begins in prehistory. The running joke is basically that the Minions, in their innocent zeal to serve evil, must find a villain to glom onto. And when they do, they inadvertently kill him. It’s funny. This is why people like the Minions. (more…)

    When Parents Say No

Young Sailor Ripley lacked “parental guidance.”

Young Sailor Ripley lacked “parental guidance.”

    1,334 words

When you’re not a liberal, you have to become comfortable with saying no. In a sense that’s the point of rejecting liberalism, which permits a much broader range of behavior than non-liberal systems typically do. Anti-liberals—such as conservatives, nationalists, racialists, religious people, and others—recognize that too much freedom has negative consequences both for the individual and the group to which the individual belongs. Thus, it’s best simply to say no to certain freedoms deemed harmful and avoid these consequences altogether. (more…)

I’m sure quite a few people like to Monday morning quarterback history. When something went wrong in the past, it’s only natural to want to make it right. KM Breakey answers these questions and many more in his most recent novel All Hail Rhodesia.  (more…)

    Citizen Vigilante: A Review

    1,584 words

This generation finally has its Death Wish.

Uwe Boll’s Citizen Vigilante, a film banned in Germany, is catching a lot of attention because it slides the curtain back on the human price which must be paid for third-world immigration. Technically, it’s a revenge fueled action-thriller, the kind which pits one exceptional man against a deep-seated, multifaceted evil. (more…)

    Jeff Metcalf Strikes Back

    2,223 words

Now that the Karmelo Anthony murder trial has concluded, and Anthony—who is black—was found guilty and sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally stabbing the white Frisco, Texas high school student Austin Metcalf on April 2nd, 2025, the victim’s father, Jeff Metcalf, had quite a bit to say. With his gag order finally lifted, he gave an unscripted, unfiltered account for three hours in an interview with conservative journalist Sarah Fields earlier this month. (more…)
